Changing or replace ethernet/NIC in Linux

i’ll explain with simple tips & tricks 🙂

1. Delete the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file

rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

2. and then before reboot your server/PC delete HWADDR or capture ^^   in

vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

for Example like this :

HWADDR=”00:0c:29:f1:24:fa”

Reboot ur PC/Server, now look into /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules where’s exactly ur new eth? if in eth0 or eth1 just make sure that in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 you write the same with ur new NIC.

and then restart service network

/etc/init.d/networking restart

Now, trying to Pinging someone, hehee
